June 2016, Best Friends Animal Society @ The Pattern Bar
FLOC learned about the organization Best Friends Animal Society, June 23rd, at The Pattern Bar in DTLA. Members learned about Best Friends efforts to run the nation’s largest no-kill sanctuary for companion animals. Learn more and volunteer here!
May 2016, United Friends of Children @ Biergarten
In honor of Foster Care Awareness Month, FLOC-LA is spotlighted United Friends of the Children for their amazing work around “Preparing Foster Youth for a Future that Works.” United Friends of the Children (UFC) provides housing and education programs for foster youth providing them an opportunity to graduate from high school, attend and graduate from college, get a job, find housing and have a support system that moves them gradually towards independence.
April 2016, Vet Hunters Spotlight @ Seven Grand
Members enjoyed a cocktail after work and learned how Vet Hunters perform search and rescue missions in the streets of LA, leaving no veteran behind. Staff members met with attendees to share the organization’s mission/vision and to offer opportunities for further engagement/volunteering with Vet Hunters.
March 2016, Step Up @ Casey’s Irish Bar & Grill
FLOC Members learned about the organization Step Up from Program Manager Shannon Kelliher on March 30th, 6:30PM-8:30PM, at Casey’s Irish Bar and Grill. Members gathered to learn how the organization propels girls from under-resourced communities to fulfill their potential by empowering them to become confident, college-bound, career-focused, and ready to join the next generation of professional women!
February 2016, Teens eXploring Technology @ Salvage Bar and Lounge
Members learned about the organization TxT: Teens eXploring Technology from CEO/ Founder Oscar Menjivar on February 16th, 6PM-8PM, at Salvage Bar and Lounge. FLOC members gathered to learn how the organization is turning inner city teenage Black and Latino males into technology leaders who are building positive communities all through coding!
January 2016, Re-Launch w/ Catholic Big Brothers Big Sisters @ Wurstkuche
FLOC-LA re-launched for 2016 and presented Catholic Big Brothers Big Sisters at Wurstkuche, January 21st at 7PM! This was the FLOC-LA Team’s first event of the year and it was a good chance to meet a number of new young professionals ready to engage in philanthropy!
